Questions, answered.
What are binaural beats?
Two tones at slightly different frequencies, one in each ear. Your brain perceives the difference as a soft pulse, and its activity tends to settle into that rhythm.
How can Node help?
People use Node to wind down before sleep, hold their focus while working, ease out of a tense day, or settle into meditation. Each session is built around the brainwave band most linked with that state: Delta for sleep, Theta for meditation, Alpha for relaxing and Beta for focus.
Not sure where to start? The card at the top of the home screen suggests a session for the time of day.
How long does it take to work?
Give a session 15 to 30 minutes before you judge it. Many people notice a shift within the first few minutes, but it varies from person to person and day to day.
Set a timer from 30 minutes to 8 hours, pick a custom length, or leave it running. The sound fades out on its own when the time is up.
Is there any scientific evidence?
Binaural beats are a real, well-documented effect of how we hear: two slightly different tones, one in each ear, produce a beat that exists only in your perception. Research on what that does for sleep, focus and mood is growing but mixed, and many studies are small.
Node is a wellness tool, not a medical device, and it is not a treatment for any condition. If you have a health concern, talk to a doctor.
How do I use Node?
Put on stereo headphones, pick a session and press play. Binaural beats need one tone in each ear, so they do not work through a speaker. No headphones to hand? Switch the beat mode to Isochronic, a single pulsing tone that does.
Keep the volume low and comfortable. Node keeps playing with your screen locked, and you can pause from the lock screen. Never listen while driving, and if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, check with a doctor first. The full guidance is in our Terms.
What are chakra tones?
Chakras are the seven energy centers described in yoga and meditation traditions, running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Each one is tied to a theme, from feeling grounded to feeling open and aware.
Node gives each chakra its own session. A carrier tone from the solfeggio scale, a set of frequencies long used in chanting and sound meditation, plays under a slow binaural beat, giving you a steady, resonant sound to settle into.
- Root396 HzGrounding and stability
- Sacral417 HzCreativity and flow
- Solar Plexus528 HzConfidence and will
- Heart639 HzCompassion and connection
- Throat741 HzClear expression
- Third Eye852 HzIntuition and insight
- Crown963 HzStillness and awareness
People use them as a focus for meditation, a way to set an intention before a session, or simply a calm sound to breathe with. Move up from Root to Crown in one sitting, or stay with the one that fits your day. The themes come from tradition rather than science, and Node does not claim that any tone changes your body or health.
